Once a year, a mother and her ducklings make their way from her nesting grounds through a high school to a nearby creek.

Staff have helped guide the family on their journey for nearly a decade.

It has become an annual tradition for staff at Gary Allan High School in Burlington, Ontario.

The mother duck loves the school’s interior courtyard and returns every year. But the courtyard is surrounded by walls on all sides. That means to get to the creek with her ducklings, they have to go through the school.

The mother duck requests help by pecking at the sliding glass door in the courtyard. The staff look forward to it every year and help guide the family through the halls, which happened again on Thursday.
